Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Luay Abu-Shariha (“I”, “me”, or “my”) handles personal data when you visit luay.me (the “Website”), download its resources, watch or follow links to videos, or contact me.

Who is responsible for your data

Luay Abu-Shariha is the person responsible for the Website and for the personal data described in this policy. The Website is operated from Jordan. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to [email protected].

Data handled by the Website

Technical and security data

When you request a page or an API endpoint, the hosting and security infrastructure may automatically process standard request information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested page, referring page, date and time, and error or security-event details. This information is used to deliver the Website, protect it from misuse, and diagnose technical problems. The Website does not create visitor profiles or use this information for behavioural advertising.

Language preference

If you switch the Website between English and Arabic, your browser stores a value called preferredLanguage in local storage. It remains on your device so the Website can remember your choice. It is not sent to me as part of a user account, and you can remove it by clearing this Website’s stored data in your browser.

Messages you choose to send

The Website does not contain a contact form. If you contact me using an email link, I receive the email address, message, and any other information you choose to include. I use it to read and respond to your message, maintain relevant correspondence, and protect my legitimate interests where necessary.

Videos, external links, and downloads

The videos page receives public video information through the Website’s server. Video thumbnail images are loaded from YouTube’s image service, so Google or YouTube may receive technical request information such as your IP address and browser details. If you follow a link to YouTube, GitHub, LinkedIn, X, or another external service, that service handles your activity under its own privacy policy. PDF resources are downloaded directly from the Website and do not require registration.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Website does not currently use first-party analytics or advertising cookies and does not operate user accounts. It uses browser local storage only to remember your language preference. Hosting and security providers may use technologies that are strictly necessary to deliver and protect the Website. If analytics, advertising, accounts, forms, or other non-essential tracking are introduced, this policy and any required consent mechanism will be updated first.

Why data is processed

Data is processed only as needed to operate and secure the Website, remember your requested language, provide resources and video information, respond when you contact me, comply with legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims. Where applicable law requires consent, processing will be based on that consent; otherwise, it will be carried out only on a basis permitted by applicable law.

Who may receive data

I do not sell or rent personal data. Limited data may be processed by hosting, infrastructure, security, and email providers where needed to provide their services; by Google or YouTube when their thumbnails or services are requested; by professional advisers where reasonably necessary; or by public authorities when disclosure is legally required. Providers are expected to handle data only for the relevant service and subject to applicable safeguards.

International transfers

Some providers may process data outside Jordan. Where Jordanian law applies to a transfer, I will use providers and safeguards intended to meet the requirements for transferring personal data outside the Kingdom, including applicable adequacy and contractual requirements.

How long data is kept

Technical logs are retained according to hosting and security settings and only for as long as reasonably needed for operation, security, troubleshooting, or legal obligations. Email correspondence is kept only while it remains useful for the conversation, professional records, dispute resolution, or a legal requirement. The language preference remains on your device until you clear it. Data is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed, unless the law requires longer retention.

Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access and obtain a copy of your personal data, correct or update it, withdraw a consent you previously gave, object to processing in the cases allowed by law, request deletion where applicable, or submit a complaint. Start by emailing [email protected]. I may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

You may also contact Jordan’s Personal Data Protection Unit about rights or complaints under Jordanian law.

Security

Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used to protect the Website and data handled through it. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children

The Website is a general professional and educational site, is not directed specifically to children, and does not knowingly request personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent personal data, please contact me so the matter can be reviewed and the data removed where appropriate.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the Website or its data practices change. The revised version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Website where appropriate.
